A Tregroes Butter Toffee Waffle is best enjoyed gently warmed.
There are 2 easy ways of doing this:
1. Carefully balance your Waffle on top of a cup (or mug) of tea, coffee, or even hot chocolate and let the steam slowly heat the Waffle until it is slightly soft.
Note for the careless: Remember, if your mug is too large, your Waffle will fall into your tea!
2. Warm the Waffle for a minute or two each side in a dry frying pan. No oil required.
In a crowded kitchen, don’t leave the pan unattended,
you may return to find it empty!
Tregroes Waffles with banana and a Welsh whisky sauce
(as prepared on S4C’s ‘Dudley’)
4 Tregroes Waffles
3 tbsp of soft brown sugar
3 bananas – cut into thick slices
5cl Welsh Whisky (or a miniature bottle)
100ml Whipping Cream
100ml Whipped Cream
Sprig of Mint
Icing Sugar – for dusting
Heat a knife hot in hot water and use to cut the waffles apart to create two individual wafers
Melt the sugar and butter together in a frying pan.
Cook the bananas in the butter and sugar mixture.
Add the whisky and set alight to flambé the mixture.
Place one disc in the centre of each plate (toffee side up) and share out the banana mixture evenly. Place the other Waffle halve on top of the banana mixture (toffee side down).
Serve with a generous spoonful of the cream, a sprig of fresh mint, and lightly sprinkle icing sugar over the plate.

Tregroes Waffles for kids!
For children, Tregroes Waffles are almost always a hit. Cut a gently warmed Butter Toffee Waffle into half moon shapes, place a dollop of whipped cream
or crème frêche on one half, add sliced strawberries, bananas, or any other soft fruit, close with the remaining half moon, and repeat. You can also use your creativity here; maybe make a smiley face shaped pudding, or a clown!
